Nolan’s up for fight to survive

- By Mel Henderson

JON NOLAN insists bottom club Ipswich can play their way out of a crisis.

The Tractor Boys have won only once this season and sit eight points adrift of safety but midfielder Nolan said: “The attitude here is still positive.

“You’d never know we’re bottom from the atmosphere around the place. The skipper, Luke Chambers, said something the other day that I picked up on: if we were sitting eight points off the play-offs at Christmas you would still fancy your chances of getting in there.” Ipswich take on Wigan at Portman Road today hoping to secure their first home win of the campaign.

Manager Paul Lambert is also upbeat about their survival chances.

“When I first came in there was a lot of apathy around the place,” he said. “But now the players are playing with freedom and having fun.”
