Cowley left with a scowl

-

LINCOLN extended their lead at the top to four points after a 3-2 home win against play-off chasers Newport but manager Danny Cowley was still not happy.

Cowley’s side stormed into a two-goal lead but were twice pegged back by Padraig Amond goals.

“It was a crazy game,” said Cowley. “We’re disappointed and frustrated in equal measure because, for 30 minutes, it was probably the best we’ve played during my tenure.

“If you do make a chain of errors, which we did, you’ve got to be really good without the ball, which we weren’t.”

Colchester narrowed the gap on second-placed MK Dons to two points as Luke Prosser’s early goal clinched a 1-0 win.

Dons manager Paul Tisdale conceded the U’s “did a job” on his side as they fell to the season’s first home league defeat.

Jayden Stockley scored a hat-trick – taking his tally to 14 for the season – as Exeter secured back-to-back league wins with a 3-2 victory at Oldham.
