Don’t blame Brexit for mass layoffs

-

WHY does every company that finds itself in overproduction decide to blame it on Brexit or link it to Brexit (“Jaguar Land Rover to axe 4,500 jobs”, January 11)?

Jaguar Land Rover is in trouble because the company is making vehicles it cannot sell, not because of Brexit.

You cannot fit a pint into a half-pint pot and the sooner our companies realise it’s no good making a product in vast quantities then finding out you haven’t the customers to buy it, the better.

To blame Brexit is a very poor get-out card for the firm’s own failings. Everything that goes wrong in Jaguar Land Rover’s sales department and finding new customers has absolutely nothing to do with Brexit.

Britain’s steel industry failed as did our coal industry and fishing industry and the only reason it did was overproduction. What a pity the workforce of all these once great companies couldn’t have put the blame on Brexit instead of overproduction.
