Kenny’s men go missing
PORTSMOUTH boss Kenny Jackett described his side’s 1-0 home defeat by Blackpool as “a missed opportunity”.
With second-placed Luton and third-placed Sunderland drawing at the Stadium of Light, a Pompey win would have stretched their lead at the top to seven points. Instead, their advantage has been trimmed to four after Chris Long’s decisive goal.
“If you are looking at the big picture, it’s a missed opportunity but I look at individual games, and winning games in this league is very hard,” said Jackett.
Scunthorpe manager Stuart McCall believes his side are still not safe from relegation despite a fourth win on the spin.
Lee Novak’s goal secured a 2-1 victory at Walsall. McCall said: “We don’t get carried away but confidence grows with each victory.”
Gareth Ainsworth expressed pride as Wycombe fought back to beat Doncaster 3-2. He said: “Our character is unbelievable. I could have broken down at the final whistle, that’s how much that win means.” 1 Liverpool 2 Man City 3 Tottenham 4 Chelsea 5 Arsenal
