Bring on City says Nuno the fearless

WOLVES have warned Pep Guardiola they are not scared of his Manchester City.

Opponents have been mown down in the crossfire as City have smashed in 18 goals in their past three games.

But Wolves’ record against the big clubs is impressive.

They have drawn with City, Arsenal and Manchester United and won at Chelsea, Tottenham and West Ham, as well as knocking Liverpool out of the FA Cup.

Ahead of his trip to the Etihad today, Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo said: “There’s no need to be afraid. We are scared of nothing. Fear can make teams freeze and that’s what you don’t want. Belief in yourself and not being afraid doesn’t mean you don’t respect your opponent.

“But we don’t fear them because we feel we have the players and the ability to compete.”

Guardiola believes he has found a back-up option for Fernandinh­o in the shape of Ilkay Gundogan.

Fernandinh­o is set to return at the heart of City’s midfield after being rested for City’s recent FA Cup and Carabao Cup mismatches. His importance has been highlighte­d this season as City stuttered while he was out injured.

Yet in Gundogan Guardiola believes he has a player who can provide perfect back-up to operate from the base of midfield as the season progresses.
