Howe in ref row

- By Chris McKenna

BOURNEMOUTH manager Eddie Howe blasted referee Anthony Taylor after watching his side’s slump continue.

After goals by Everton duo Kurt Zouma and Dominic Calvert-Lewin condemned his team to another 2-0 defeat, Howe admitted their dwindling confidence is a concern

but was adamant his side should have had two penalties.

David Brooks and Jefferson Lerma saw spot-kick appeals waved away in either half.

Howe said: “The first, I thought at the time was a penalty on David Brooks but haven’t seen it again. Then I’m told – but I haven’t seen it – that we should have had a ‘stone-waller’ at the end of the game.”

He also claimed that Everton’s Andre Gomes was “lucky to stay on the pitch” after fouls on Steve Cook and Josh King while on a yellow card.

But Everton manager Marco Silva believes Toffees fans will be as dismayed with the referee as their opponents after decisions also went against them.

Silva said: “I am sure if you are an Everton supporter you are really unhappy with the referee. Our fans reacted at the end of the match.”
