JAW DROPPING SMILE

- By Max De Rosnay

TALK about having a killer grin...

Now meet Deep Blue, thought to be the world’s largest great white shark, who has just been spotted for the first time in four years.

Its mouth brimming with jagged teeth, the real-life Jaws is about 20ft long, weighs in at arounf two-and-a-half tons and is around 50 years old.

Deep Blue has appeared off the coast of Hawaii four years after last being spotted in the Pacific Ocean near Mexico.

Conservation photographer Juan Oliphant posted footage of the monster on Instagram. He said: “Face to face with the world’s largest great white ever recorded.

“I’m speechless!”

The shark was first seen by photographers Mark Mohler and Kimberly Jeffries, who also swam with and photographed Deep Blue.

Mr Mohler said: “My first reaction was just disbelief. She followed three tiger sharks and her sheer size made them look like barracudas. After I spent some time with her, and then again when we confirmed her identity as Deep Blue, it was an incredible feeling of euphoria.

“Everyone was in awe when we saw her. It was both disbelief and euphoria. Her size was absolutely incredible.”

Experts said that Deep Blue was in Hawaiian waters for the winter season.

Despite the shark’s immense size and fearsome reputation, she has become a magnet for divers keen to swim with a legend of the high seas.
