WORLD CUP FURY OVER £12,000 TICKETS HIJACK

- By David McDonnell

ORGANISERS for the Cricket World Cup are planning legal action as tickets for the England v Australia match are being sold for £12,029.

Ticketing website Viagogo have defended themselves, however, saying they do not set costs and that sellers determine their own prices.

“We are working closely with lawyers to identify secondary ticket sites that infringe our terms and conditions,” said a World Cup spokesperson. “We are taking appropriate enforcement action against them as required.”

While it remains legal in the United Kingdom to resell such tickets, the Cricket World Cup states on their official website that no ticket bought from them should be offered for public sale. But Viagogo said in a statement: “Viagogo do not set MANCHESTER UNITED are ready to hand Marcus Rashford a bumper new deal, with Europe’s top clubs ready to pounce for the striker this summer.

The England star has underlined his enduring worth to United in recent weeks with six goals in nine games, as well as providing three assists over the same period.

The arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as caretaker manager has seen Rashford flourish in a more central position up front, with the 21-year-old producing the best form of his career.

United recognise Rashford’s value and are understood to be ticket prices, sellers set their own prices. Where demand is high and tickets are limited, prices increase.”

On the website Stubhub, two tickets for the India v Pakistan match on June 16, originally priced at £150 per ticket, are on offer for £3,280 each. LOOKS like Leicester have found a superhero to lift their spirits.

ready to open talks with his representatives over a new deal worth about £150,000 a week that reflects his progression and importance to the club.

Rashford’s current £75,000-a-week deal runs out in 18 months, and although United have an option to extend it by a year, there is a desire to tie him down to a new long-term contract.

Real Madrid and Juventus are just two of Europe’s elite clubs who are known to covet Rashford, whose future looked uncertain during the turbulent reign of former boss Jose Mourinho.

But Rashford, who is set to make his 150th United appearance against Brighton at Old Trafford tomorrow, is thriving under Solskjaer and has taken his game to a new level since his arrival last month.

Rashford scored a stunning winner in United’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham at Wembley last weekend, and his current scoring run is the best of his career since he burst on to the scene in 2016.

If he can find the net tomorrow, Rashford will take his tally to eight in the league this season – his best return in the top flight – with a third of the campaign still remaining.

It is a far cry from the disillusioned figure he cut under Mourinho, who never fully trusted Rashford to play through the middle.

But things could not be more different under Solskjaer, whose arrival has transformed his performances.

Before United’s win over Spurs, Solskjaer claimed Rashford had the potential to be as prolific and deadly as England skipper Harry Kane.

“Marcus has been different class since I have come in,” said Solskjaer. “His work rate is unbelievable.

“He closes down, chases, runs in behind. He has the motivation and inspiration himself to become the best he can be.”
