Corbyn is savaged by PM over his boycott

-

LABOUR leader Jeremy Corbyn was yesterday savaged by Theresa May for boycotting her cross-party talks on Brexit despite his readiness to meet “Hamas, Hezbollah and the IRA”.

In an angry clash in the Commons, she tore into him for his continuing refusal to meet her face-to-face to discuss thrashing out a solution to the parliamentary impasse.

She told him: “I am delivering on Brexit. I want to do it with a deal. Why will the right honourable gentleman not come and meet me and talk about it?”

Over the past week, Mrs May has met MPs from Labour, the Lib Dems, the Scottish and Welsh nationalists, the Democratic Unionist Party and the Greens to hear their ideas.

Refusal

But Mr Corbyn has insisted he will not meet her unless she rules out a no-deal Brexit.

A string of Tory MPs have contrasted his refusal with his past willingness to meet Irish republicans and Middle East terror groups.

At Prime Minister’s Questions in the Commons, Mrs May told him: “What I, members of the Cabinet and the whole Government are doing is working to ensure that we leave the European Union with a deal.

“That is the way to avoid no deal. What I have wanted to do is talk about how we can secure support in this House for a deal.

Mr Corbyn hit back: “It appears that, while the door to her office may well be open, the minds inside it are completely closed. She has shown no flexibility.”
