Parents in prayer vigil for missing Libby
THE parents of missing student Libby Squire have attended a prayer vigil as the search for their daughter continues.
Lisa Squire, mother of the Hull University student, 21, who has not been seen for more than a week, hugged a policewoman as she left Hull Community Church following the vigil.
Yesterday officers entered a property on Raglan Street, Hull, where a 24-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday night on suspicion of abducting Libby.
Police left the property with evidence bags. They also used a camera to search the drains of the terraced house.
Digital posters with Libby’s face have been placed around Hull city centre and students have been helping police with their searches.
Libby was seen taking a taxi from a nightclub on the evening of Thursday, January 31.
Police said she was dropped off near her home at 11.29pm and seen near a bench on Beverley Road around 10 minutes later. It is understood that police are examining CCTV footage, obtained by ITV News, which shows a man getting in and out of a car minutes after the last sighting of the student, who is originally from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.
In the video, the unidentified man is seen opening the front passenger door and moving around, before getting behind the wheel and driving away at around 12.09am on Friday, February 1.
Detective Superintendent Matthew Hutchinson, of Humberside Police, said on Saturday: “We are treating Libby’s disappearance as a missing persons inquiry.”
Last night he added: “We are continuing to investigate the disappearance of Libby Squire and a 24-year-old man remains of interest to the investigation.”
