Widow’s f lowers banned
A WIDOW is refusing to obey a ban on leaving flowers by her husband’s memorial bench.
Under new rules they can only be left on a loved ones’ birthday or the death anniversary to ensure the benches were “safe for public use”.
But when Tenterden Town Council in Kent asked Chris Patterson, 63, when husband Colin died – so they can monitor her tributes
– she refused. The 66-year-old suffered a brain aneurysm in 2017.
Chris said: “Why doesn’t the council just write to families to ask them to remove flowers if they have died or look unsightly?”
The council said the benches were a tribute in themselves and that it had already relaxed its once-a-year ruling.
