Don’t expect any fines for parents after kids’ day off

MILLIONS of children decided to take a day off last Friday (“Climate change protest: Thousands of students walk out of school in mass strike”, February 15).

It will be interesting to see if the parents of all these children receive a fine of £70 for willingly allowing their children to absent themselves.

Will head teachers pursue their own strict rules and impose these fines as eagerly as they do if parents wish to take their children out of school for a day?

Don’t hold your breath.
