The series following six academically gifted teenagers from low-income families returns and the three boys take centre stage in the opening episode. The trio are now in Year 10 and a step closer to their final GCSE exams. Aspiring doctor Liam (left) gets a tantalising glimpse of Cambridge University but at home in Newcastle personal struggles threaten to jeopardise his progress. Londoner Jamarley faces pressure on the streets while in Hartlepool, Kian aims to dispel people’s assumptions about him by applying for the role of head boy, with surprising results. As always with this show, you reach the end and cannot help but feel an overriding sense of empathy for the youngsters.
