Roy hails solo strike

-

ROY HODGSON was full of praise for Jeffrey Schlupp after the winger’s solo goal helped send Crystal Palace into the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Schlupp’s eighth-minute strike at Doncaster settled Palace nerves before Max Meyer added a second just before half-time.

“It was a wonderful goal,” Hodgson said of the opener. “You don’t often see many players start off in their own half, run half the length of the field, hold off challenges and then finish the way he did.

“The second one was very good too, and came at a good time because it gave us that cushion in the second half.”

Swansea joined Millwall as the only teams from outside the top flight in tonight’s quarter-final draw, after beating Brentford 4-1 at the Liberty Stadium.

Wolves saw off Bristol City in a bad-tempered tie at Ashton Gate as Ivan Cavaleiro scored the only goal.
