Eagles may fly in Wales

-

GOLDEN eagles could be reintroduced to Wales for the first time in 200 years, claims BBC One’s Countryfile show.

The rare birds, with 6ft wingspans, have been reduced to small areas of the UK after years of persecution and culling.

Experts claim in today’s show that Snowdonia could be a perfect home and help boost eco-tourism.

It follows successful schemes in Scotland and Northern Ireland. But sheep farmers fear the birds will prey on lambs.

Host Jules Hudson gets their reaction in the show on at 9.15am today.
