Labour MPs lack wisdom of Winston

-

I WAS a child when Winston Churchill was Prime Minister and unaware of much of what Leo McKinstry wrote about him (“These two British titans belie the myths of the Left”, February 18).

Although the background at that time held little interest for me as a child, I was fully aware of the huge burden Churchill carried, and even more aware that everyone relied on and trusted him implicitly to save us when our country was in grave danger.

So to hear John McDonnell “displaying his ignorant pettiness calling Churchill a villain” proves what kind of person he is.

We were privileged in the 1940s to have politicians of real standing who, no matter what party they belonged to, could work together, as was proved by Churchill and Labour leader Clement Attlee.

They were two of our greatest politicians, but today we are lumbered with the likes of Corbyn and McDonnell who can’t hold a candle to these fine politicians and statesmen.
