Should rock ‘n’ roll legend tina turner call it a day?

-

OH my word – I was totally flabberasted when I read this star was considering a comeback (“It’s simply the best news... Tina could return to the stage”, February 18.) At 79? Really?

Come on Tina, you’ve had your time at the top, and no doubt you have brought a lot of pleasure to your many fans. But after spending time in a wheelchair following a fall, you need to remember you’ll be 80 next birthday so I think it’s time to give it up.

I understand that Dame Vera Lynn carried on singing well into her 80s, however her stage act was hardly in the same league as Tina’s. Sarah Henderson,

Wolverhampton I WAS thrilled to hear Tina Turner might be making a comeback.

Why should she give in to age when she can still belt out her many hits with that unmistakable, powerful voice? Yes, she was in a wheelchair for a while after a fall and as she admits, she may not be able to leap on to a table-top any more, but she has more energy than many people half her age.

There’s a lot of love for this icon – as shown by the success of The Tina Turner Musical – and I’m sure her shows would sell out in no time if she was tempted back on stage.

Come on Tina, you’re still simply the best. Gordon Heckstall,

Durham
