Invest pitch for big outdoors
HOLIDAY parks and campsite organisations are pitching for more investment after a “groundbreaking” report revealed their £5.3billion contribution to the UK economy.
The independent report by Frontline Consultants – the first such UK analysis – said parks and campsites generate £9.3billion in visitor spending and support 171,448 full-time employees.
Bob Hill, who led the UK Caravan and Camping Alliance joint working group, said: “This will help the industry attract more investment and ultimately improve opportunities for it to grow, develop and create new jobs.
“Our findings reinforce the importance of holiday parks and campsites to the country’s tourism economy.”
