Never let her back... she’s far too big a danger says orphan of the Manchester bomb slaughter

- By John Twomey

A YOUNG woman who lost both parents in the Manchester Arena bombing has slammed Shamima Begum for claiming the atrocity was “justified.”

Alex Klis, 21, had urged ministers to ban the teenager from ever returning from Syria to Britain with her new baby, saying: “This country can’t afford more risk.”

She was backed up by the mother of Olivia Campbell, 15, who was one of 20 other people murdered in the May 2017 explosion.

Alex and her sister Patrycia, 15, were at the Ariana Grande concert at the venue while their parents Marcin, 42, and Angelika, 39, were waiting to collect them in the packed foyer when Salman Abedi detonated his home made bomb.

Begum defended the slaughter on the BBC, suggesting it was in retaliation for attacks on Islamic State in Syria.

But Alex said: “I think she is comparing things that shouldn’t ever be compared. She’s saying there are fighters in IS that are getting killed.

“Those people go there knowing what to expect. People who went to the Manchester Arena, they went there to take their kids to a concert. She’s out of order, comparing those two things. She has made her bed. I think she should remain where she is. I don’t think she’s being honest.

“The only reason that she wants to come back is because she couldn’t stay where she was. What is the point in coming back if you enjoy it so much there?”

In the aftermath of the blast Alex and Patrycia checked hospitals and launched a social media appeal before being told both their parents were dead. Referring to the time that has passed since, Alex told ITV’s This Morning: “I have become my sister’s guardian. I’ve had to grow up overnight.

“It was very natural. It was autopilot the whole way. We’re used to it now, we just live our life.

“The whole thing has brought it back up. The emergency fund has helped us hugely. We were in a rented house and that money helped with buying a house.”

Olivia Campbell’s mother Charlotte said of Begum: “I can’t stand the thought of her being allowed back. It’s making me ill.”
