Police release new CCTV in hunt for Libby
DETECTIVES hunting for missing student Libby Squire have released new CCTV footage of potential witnesses who could hold “crucial information” about her disappearance.
The 21-year-old University of Hull student has not been seen since the evening of January 31 after a night out with friends. Humberside Police launched a search that continues today.
The video released by the force shows four individuals walking down a street about half a mile from where Libby was last spotted.
Investigators yesterday said that the people pictured may “have crucial information that could assist the investigation”.
The footage was taken from a camera on Oak Road between 1.13am and 2.34am on February 1.
Leading the investigation, Det Supt Martin Smalley said: “These four people are potentially witnesses who we need to identify and speak to.
“While the footage isn’t clear enough for anyone to recognise who they may be, the four people in the clips will know if they were in that area at the times given. I would ask them to please come forward to assist with our enquiries.
“They may have seen or heard something that could be vital to the investigation.”
The first clip shows an individual, believed to be in a light coloured T-shirt and dark trousers, running into view then walking out of shot at 1.13am. The second shows a figure riding a bike at 1.24am, then cycling back ten minutes later.
A final clip captures two people, one in dark clothing and the other in light-coloured trousers and a dark top, walking on Oak Road at 2.34am.
Det Supt Smalley said: “Libby remains our priority and we are determined to do all we can to find her.”
● Pawel Relowicz, 24, was arrested on suspicion of abduction in relation to Libby Squire and released pending further enquiries. He was later charged with unrelated crimes of voyeurism, outraging public decency and burglary.
Humberside Police say Relowicz remains “under investigation”.
