Saido probe

- By Dave Armitage

STOKE have pledged to leave no stone unturned as they ponder how to deal with Saido Berahino.

Club owner Peter Coates has sanctioned a forensic examination of all options open to them.

Striker Berahino, 25, right, who cost £12million, is due in court next month accused of being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle following an incident in central London in the early hours of Monday morning.

Coates said the club had to tread carefully bearing in mind the legal proceedings but made it clear that a thorough investigation was already under way.

He said ripping up the player’s £40,000-a-week contract might not be an option open to them. Coates said: “We have to know what our position is.”

But the fact Berahino’s charge came after he had been given time off after reporting sick will infuriate the club.

It is expected he will be fined two weeks wages and ordered to train away from the first team.

Stoke will then wait for the outcome of his court case.

MANUEL LANZINI could make his long-awaited West Ham return tomorrow.

The playmaker, right, has been sidelined since rupturing knee ligaments while training with Argentina in June, an injury that kept him out of the World Cup. But the Hammers may recall him at home to

Fulham.
