REVELLERS continued to flood to Glastonbury Festival yesterday and today – hoping to bag a top camping spot.

This weekend 175,000 people will descend on Worthy Farm in Somerset, to see British grime rapper Stormzy and bands The Killers and The Cure headline this year’s festival.

Festivalgoers stripped off as temperatures hit a sweltering 28C ( 82F) yesterday as the “Saharan Bubble” edged ever closer towards the UK. A high of 30C ( 86F) is expected today.

Thousands swapped the traditional festival attire of wellies and anoraks for bikinis and bare feet, pouring cold water over themselves in a bid to cool down.

Yesterday, the festival’s official Twitter account posted its own weather warning about how to stay safe in the heat. Alcohol

It comes as the NHS issued a level- two health alert for the South West and other parts of England, that is in place until tomorrow evening.

Glastonbury Festival said: “The sun is shining down on Worthy Farm.

“Please take a moment to read this advice on staying safe in the heat.”

Guidelines told revellers to avoid drinking too much alcohol.

They also advised people to wear a hat, use sunscreen and drink lots of water.

Free sunscreen, extra shaded areas and a record number of water stations are also part of the festival’s contingency plans to keep people cool in the hot weather.

Festivalgoers have also been urged not to urinate on the grass amid fears the heatwave could cause water contamination.

One warning, shared on social media, read: “The Environment Agency tests the water regularly, and has the power to close down the site if too many people have urinated and polluted the site.”
