Oh baby, you gave Gemma quite a fright
SOAP star Gemma Atkinson and Strictly Come Dancing pro Gorka Marquez have said they went through a dramatic delivery before welcoming their baby daughter.
On Instagram, the former Emmerdale actress, 34, said the baby “certainly made an entrance” at the Royal Bolton Hospital in Greater Manchester.
Hinting that the birth had not gone smoothly, Gemma said the child had given the pair “quite a fright”.
But she went on to thank nursing staff and joked that her pet dogs would be doting “big brothers”. Gemma posted: “And just like that, we’re a three! Our beautiful baby daughter arrived on Thursday 4th July and myself and Gorks couldn’t be happier.
“She’s incredible and she certainly made an entrance, giving us all quite a fright at times! Little Miss independent already!
“Thank you SO much to the nurses & doctors at The Royal Bolton Hospital who did the most incredible job taking care of myself and my baby.
“You’re all so wonderful and I’m so grateful to have been under your care these past 4 days.” Gemma met Spaniard Gorka, 28, on Strictly in 2017, when she was partnered with Aljaz Skorjanec and he was teamed with Alexandra Burke.
Gorka pulled out of dance show Here Come The Boys to be by Gemma’s side for the birth.
He said: “@glouiseatkinson my absolute HERO! After seeing you go through all you did to bring our little girl to life has made me love and respect you even more.”
Dancers Dianne Buswell, Amy Dowden and Hollyoaks actress Sarah Jayne Dunn were among those congratulating the couple online.
