Frank denied by late goal

NEW SEASON, new boss and a start for the Frank Lampard era.

After Europa League final success against Arsenal two months ago, Chelsea launched their pre-season with a 1-1 draw at Bohemians.

Lampard was the focal point, applauded warmly by around 4,000 Blues fans.

Michy Batshuayi fired a young Chelsea side ahead from close range in the first half. But Lampard’s men were pegged back with two minutes left when trialist Eric Molloy rammed the ball past substitute goalkeeper Jamie Cumming.

World Cup winner Pogba is desperate to leave, with Real Madrid and his former club Juventus ready to move for the £150million-rated playmaker.

United’s club-record £89m signing and his agent Mino Raiola have made public Pogba’s desire to leave.

But Solskjaer warned them United are not in a position where they have to sell their star midfielder.

“Most of our players have long contracts and we’re Manchester United – we don’t have to sell players,” said Solskjaer yesterday.

“There has been loads of talks and speculation about many of our players, both ins and outs, but, for me, it’s business as usual.

“I’ve spoken to Paul and most of the players and as far as I’m aware we don’t have any bids for our players so far.

“Paul has never put himself out of the team, he has always wanted to play and he has always given his best.

“Paul has never been a concern for me.When he’s on the pitch he’s working hard, a true pro, a proud boy.

“We’ve got a few years left of his contract and he has been fantastic when he has come back into training.

“Agents talk all the time and, as I said, we’ve not had any bids from any clubs, so that’s all I can say on the matter.

“As long as they’re here, the players are professionals. They work and, as long as they’re here working, agents and everyone else can talk.”

United have so far signed just two players, full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace for £50m, and winger Daniel James from Swansea for £15m.
