Nightmare

-

Andrew, 51, who doctors warned could be suffering from posttraumatic stress, said he fears his ex-wife “manipulated” Parole Board members, and is convinced she remains a risk and should stay locked away.

He said: “I am staggered. I don’t know what to say.

“While she’ll be returned to society, possibly with a new look and identity, I face a life sentence knowing that for me this nightmare will never disappear.

“Vanessa is manipulative and she’s like the leopard which never changes its spots. She should have stayed locked up.”

George sent horrific abuse images she had made and collected at Little Ted’s Nursery in Efford, Devon, to fellow online perverts.

The child centre was forced to close in the wake of the scandal.

One of those who peddled the sick images was paedophile Colin Blanchard, who she met on Facebook.

Blanchard, of Rochdale, was said to be the “hub of the paedophile wheel” and was later jailed for a minimum of nine years.

He traded the photos to members of a paedophile ring, including prostitute Angela Allen, of just Nottingham, five years.

George confessed to seven sexual assaults on young children and six counts of distributing and making indecent pictures.

She was handed an indeterminate sentence with a minimum of seven years, meaning she could only be freed if she was assessed as no longer posing a threat to the public.

When she was sentenced, Mr Justice Royce said she had “plumbed new depths of depravity” and could spend the rest of her life in prison.

But her case was referred to the Parole Board by Justice Secretary who was jailed for David Gauke to determine whether she could be safely released on licence.

A spokesman said: “The Parole Board has directed the release of Vanessa George following a review.

“Parole Board decisions are solely focused on whether a prisoner would represent a significant risk to the public after release.

“The panel will have carefully looked at a whole range of evidence, including details of the original evidence and any evidence of behaviour change.

“This is done with great care and public safety is the number one priority.”

In its ruling, the board said: “Witnesses described Ms George’s good behaviour in prison. She has worked well with professionals. All the professional witnesses recommended Ms George be released as they considered that she had addressed her risk factors and reduced her risk of causing harm to a level where, with a robust risk management plan, it would be manageable in the community.”

Police said George’s family, who thought she was a respected nursery worker, knew nothing of her double life as an abuser.

While sending indecent pictures to a gang of paedophiles, she bragged of being a “paedo whore mum” in vile online exchanges.
