Battle for wonder drug

-

THE human cost of the failure to secure life-saving drugs for cystic fibrosis sufferers on the NHS was set out for all to see yesterday in Parliament Square. Demonstrators clad in unmissable yellow lay down to represent the 255 people who died in the three-and-a-half years that the drug Orkambi could have been available in this country.

There are 10,500 people in the UK with cystic fibrosis. It will be an outrage if more lives are lost because drug-maker Vertex will not sign a deal. We will not give up the fight – and nor will the legions of people who supported the demonstration both outside Parliament and on social media.

Shadow chancellor John McDonnell deserves credit for donning a Daily Express T-shirt in support of our campaign.

We cannot and we will not rest until justice is won.
