Airline boss takes off
THE co-founder of Norwegian Air Shuttle, Bjorn Kjos, has stepped down after 17 years in charge.
The 72-year-old former fighter pilot oversaw Norwegian’s development from small domestic airline into Europe’s third biggest low-cost carrier.
It shook up the long-haul market with cut-price transatlantic fares, but was left with heavy losses and high debts. His resignation came as the airline warned the grounding of Boeing’s 737 MAX planes could hit profits by up to £65million this year.
