Andy ‘can test the top five in singles’

- Tony Banks

JONAS BJORKMAN, who coached Andy Murray in 2015, believes the Scot will challenge the world’s top five when he makes his return to the singles court – and will definitely get back into the top 10.

Murray has so far refused to put a date on a possible singles comeback.

He won the men’s doubles at Queens with Feliciano Lopez, made the second round at Wimbledon with Pierre-Hugues Herbert, and in the mixed doubles reached the third round with Serena Williams. Swede Bjorkman, 47, the former world No4, said: “Andy can get back to the top 10 level. There is no doubt, with the calibre of player he is, if he is healthy, that he is going to be back to challenge the top five.

“Once a champion, you are always a champion. He has had a problem with his hip for a long time and that has been throwing him off a bit, but he can come back to that level and maybe play even better.”
