Hurley’s son wins legal bid to inherit grandad’s millions
THE son of model Elizabeth Hurley has won a legal fight against his multi-millionaire grandfather who tried to cut him out of his inheritance.
Damian Hurley, 17, was told by Dr Peter Bing that he could not access the fortune because he was born out of wedlock, so not considered a relation.
But this week, a US judge ruled Damian and his half-sister Kira Kerkorian were beneficiaries of a family trust.
Damian, an up-and-coming model, and 20-year-old Kira were both fathered by Dr Bing’s son Steve, 54.
Dr Bing stated that after setting up the GC Trust in 1980, he stipulated that any grandchild must be “raised by my children as part of their families” to benefit.
But in court papers filed on Tuesday, Judge Daniel Juarez said: “The Trustee’s interpretation of the Trusts is unreasonable because no ambiguity exists, and the Trustee’s construction of ‘grandchild’ is simply
Family fortune... father Steve Bing unfounded.” The judge added: “Trustee’s interpretation is unreasonable and not entitled to deference.”
According to court documents filed in March, Dr Bing stipulated his trust “would not benefit any person born out of wedlock unless that person had lived for a substantial period of time as a regular member of the household”.
He also told how his son had “never met” Damian and, as a result, he did not want him to receive any of the trust’s money. Mr Bing, who is worth an estimated £456million, initially denied paternity. He claimed that he and Hurley were not in an exclusive relationship at the time, but a test proved he was Damian’s biological father. Kira – whose mother is tennis player Lisa Bonder, 53 – was previously thought to be the daughter of late casino tycoon, Kirk Kerkorian. In 2016, she was awarded £4.94million from his estate, but a DNA test later revealed Mr Bing was her father.
