Kate’s rant at rich isn’t classy
KATE WINSLET, who’s said to be worth about £62million and lives in a £4million mansion, says she’d be disgusted if any of her ancestors had been rich or royal.
“My roots are socialist, working class and my parents frowned upon the wealthy,” she says in a Radio Times interview.
God, I’m so fed up with multimillionaire, champagne socialist, virtue-signalling celebs who bang on about being working class when they’re living in mansions, flying around in private jets and need never work again.
Anyway, just how working class was Ms Winslet? Her mum and dad owned their house. She went to a fee-paying school and her grandad was a successful dentist. So stop with the “we lived in a shoe-box” nonsense.
I’d have much more respect for celebs if they just held up their hands and said: “I’m rich, I earned it. And I’m proud of it.”
Pretending they’re working class like it’s some kind of credential isn’t just hypocritical – it shows an absurd lack of self-awareness.
