CATCHER ON A HIGH

- By Chris Goulding

FRANKIE DETTORI came away empty-handed on his first visit to Killarney on Wednesday but can be rewarded on more familiar territory at the Curragh.

Dettori partners STAR CATCHER (5.10) for John Gosden in the Kerrygold Irish Oaks.

Star Catcher impressed at Royal Ascot last month in the Ribblesdale Stakes and can confirm the form with Aidan O’Brien’s runner Fleeting, who finished second that day.

Riding arrangements suggest Pink Dogwood is O’Brien’s main hope, with Ryan Moore in the saddle, but that filly is held by today’s rival Iridessa who beat her at the Curragh last month.

Dettori last took this prize with Enable in 2017. Star Catcher might not reach that great filly’s achievements, but she is good enough to take this Classic for her ultrapopular rider.
