Morgan puts future on hold until dust settles
EOIN MORGAN will go away next week to consider his future as England’s one-day captain, admitting he is still consumed by the “madness” of their World Cup triumph.
After leading England’s remarkable conversion from dunces to dukes over the 50-over course in just four years, Morgan is agonising over carrying on until 2023.
When the euphoria of their win subsides, he will have to make a big call on whether to continue or hand over to Jos Buttler. Morgan said: “I don’t think I’m in a good state to make a decision at the moment. I haven’t had a chance to get away from the craze of winning the World Cup.
“I haven’t been able to settle into a logical mindset because it has taken a huge amount out of me. Once everything calms down, I’ll come to a decision.”
ELLYSE PERRY made 116 as Australia reached 341-5 before rain stopped play on day two of the sole Test of the Women’s Ashes.
Australia will retain the Ashes if England do not win the Test in the multi-format series.
NO RUSH: Morgan is undecided on captaincy
