Cookery: The Chefs’ Brigade, BBC2, 9pm

Jason Atherton takes the chefs to Cadiz in southern Spain, a city famous for its seafood. The brigade – including Stephen (left) – must cook for a restaurant that has been run by the same family for 50 years, and is adored by locals and tourists alike. There are tough tasks and then there are tasks like this. Atherton must encourage the chefs to appreciate and embrace local traditions, and arranges for a local fisherman to take them to the salt flats that have provided seafood to residents for thousands of years. Back in the kitchen, several members of the brigade have to win back Jason’s trust following recent confrontat­ions – another unenviable task.

Film: Volcano, Film4, 6.55pm

Starring Tommy Lee Jones (left) and Anne Heche, this disaster thriller imagines what might happen if a river of molten lava was to spew from an erupting volcano on to the streets of Los Angeles. It prompts the head of a crisis agency to team up with an intrepid scientist in a frantic and dangerous bid to save the city’s residents. Although it used extensive special effects, it failed to receive any award nomination­s from mainstream motion picture organisati­ons for its production merits.

Animals: The Yorkshire Vet, Channel 5, 8pm

Huzzah! A special edition of The Yorkshire Vet. Julian Norton visits the young people putting everything they have into their main passion – farming. The programme celebrates the hard work and dedication of four young farmers as they spend the summer making their mark on the Yorkshire countrysid­e. Julian meets fourth-generation farmer Ben (above, with Norton). It’s inspiratio­nal stuff to watch.

Soap: Emmerdale, ITV, 7pm & 8pm

There is a new face in the village and he would not be much of an addition if he did not have a back story and a bit of baggage. April’s party is interrupte­d when a car horn is heard and Ellis storms outside. Jessie reveals to Marlon the mysterious man is Al Chapman (Michael Wildman, above right), Ellis’s dad – but why has he turned up and will anyone be pleased to see him? Elsewhere, Sam and Lydia get a shock.

Drama: Holby City, BBC1, 8pm

Chloe (Amy Lennox, right) desperatel­y tries to convince Evan that their marriage is over as he bombards her with calls, photos and flowers and refuses to take no for an answer. Some people really are hard to shake off. Hanssen, meanwhile, is forced to make the tough call between work and family as he prepares for an important operation, and Dominic and Lofty are surprised by the outcome of their relationsh­ip counsellin­g, but secrets threaten to tear them apart.
