Wedding dogs’ £150 grooming

- By Jan Disley

COUPLES are pampering their pooches to be guest of honour at their weddings.

Brides and grooms are forking out £150 to give their dogs facial scrubs, fragrance sprays and a handmade floral neck collar to match the bridal colour scheme.

The “I do” package at a Lake District wedding venue includes a nail trim, ear cleanse and paw-hydrating balm with the option to add “before and after” pictures.

Hotel manager Simon Steele, of Armathwaite Hall, near Keswick, said: “We all like to spoil those we love.

“It is becoming more common to have a family dog included in the wedding ceremony and part of this is having them look their best, particularly for the photographs.

“This is difficult to achieve days in advance, which is why we introduced the ‘dog grooming’ package for the day of the wedding.” Manisha Anand with daughter Ambika, now 22 months old A MUM has told how her baby started breathing on her own just hours before her life support was set to be switched off on the “advice of top medics”.

Manisha Anand, 27, says she and husband Pyush, 28, made the heartrending decision to turn off Ambika’s ventilator after medics allegedly told them her brain scans were “the worst they had ever seen” and she would be in a “complete vegetative state”.

But the three-week-old began to breathe and, while she has complex needs, is now a happy 22-month-old.

“It was like a miracle,” said Manisha, who is consulting lawyers about the treatment she and Ambika received. “I know they can’t give you false hope but they hadn’t even given her a chance. It’s crazy.”

Manisha, of Stretford, Greater Manchester, was 39 weeks pregnant when she fell ill with abdominal pain.

Early on 31 October, 2017, she called the maternity service at Wythenshawe Hospital, to be told not to come in but have a hot bath.

She rang again at 7.50am. The midwife called back 15 minutes later and advised her to come in.

Manisha said she “knew something was badly wrong”.Ambika’s heart rate
