Revenge is a dish best served cold

“I’D rather be dead in a ditch than ask for another delay on Brexit,” says Boris, which just about sums up how the rest of us feel. I didn’t think things could get worse after last week – but they have.

On Boris’s second day in Parliament MPs passed a vote that seriously damaged his ability to negotiate a deal. On Day Three they wrecked it completely by voting to block no-deal which means another extension (which will achieve nothing) and the EU calling the shots on further extensions, maybe for years.

And the message from that is there’s no point in any of us ever voting again because our votes don’t matter a toss.

It’s clear now that this lying, treacherous, rotten-to-the-core Parliament isn’t fit for purpose, has zero intention of ever enacting the referendum result and clearly feels its loyalty lies with the EU not the British people.

Which is why it needs to be kicked out and replaced by one that knows its purpose is to serve, not sabotage the country, the Government and the people who elected its MPs.

These Remain MPs have farcically accused Boris of staging a coup when he prorogued parliament (which a court ruled is perfectly lawful). Yet the only coup I’ve seen has been in Parliament this week when they cut the PM’s legs out from under him and made it impossible for him to negotiate a deal – which was always their plan. They then accused him and his team of being Hard Right extremists – and for what? Trying to enact Britain’s biggest ever democratic vote? As for those Tory MPs sacked for voting with Corbyn to block nodeal, of course they can’t come back. If they do, it’ll be another three years of extensions and dithering. Sacking them wasn’t about purging Parliament of Remainers. It was about getting rid of those trying to trash a democratic vote.

But outside the Westminster bubble and away from the cacophony about coups and revolutions and extremists, voters aren’t falling for the Remainer MPs’ nonsense. They see what the fools who represent them are doing. They see their arrogance, their self-interest, their total disregard for ordinary people’s lives and livelihoods. They’re sickened by their games, the delays and the procrastination. They just want Brexit done and they see Boris as their only chance of getting it done.

He’s reminded them what a forceful, determined leader looks like which is why his popularity is rocketing. A YouGov poll has 62 per cent saying he’s decisive, up 24 points on a month ago and 52 per cent say he’s strong – up 11 points. He’s also why support for the Tory Party has increased from 20 per cent under Theresa May to 35 per cent while Labour languishes at 22 per cent.

Remain MPs constantly tell us the referendum shouldn’t count because voters didn’t know what they were voting for, which translated means we’re thick and stupid.

Well, they’re about to vote again and they sure as Hell know what they want now – and it’s a PM who’s going to do what they asked three years ago.

So Remainers need to remember that every time they try to smash Boris’s efforts to leave the EU, every time they make a mockery of him and gloat about their little victories, a few more thousand of the people they think are thick and stupid will vote for Boris to get him the majority he needs to deliver Brexit.
