Latest in wonder walls
INTERNATIONAL Wallpaper Week starts on Monday and if there’s one product to help us fall back in love with papering our walls it’s B&Q’s paste-the-wall wallpapers. This new generation of wallpaper takes about 30 per cent less time to hang than traditional rolls, says B&Q décor category director Susie Spence.
“Simply paste the wall and hang,” she says. “And when you fancy a change it simply peels off.”
As for painting, she says a two-tone wall can be achieved in just one day: “Try introducing a warm shade halfway up your hallway walls, with a lighter shade on top, to create an illusion of space and light.”
Dulux is already focusing on the next decade. Tranquil Dawn, inset, is the company’s colour of the year for 2020 and its gentle blue-grey-green tones work well with neutrals as well as bright colours.
Meanwhile Johnstone’s paints is relaunching its Revive range of chalky furniture paint, cupboard paint and tile paint, aimed at upcyclers.
The new colours fit with specific design trends and include Vintage Duck Egg, Antique Sage and metallic paint.
Similarly, chalk paint brand Frenchic has 65 colours including Al Fresco for outdoor use and Lazy With Added Wax to save waxing after painting.
