CORBYN WANTS TO ‘DESTROY NATO’

- By Macer Hall Political Editor

SNIPPETS of the conversation involving Justin Trudeau that so annoyed Donald Trump were picked up by nearby microphones at a Buckingham Palace reception.

Mr Trudeau was chatting to Emmanuel Macron and Boris Johnson in front of Princess Anne on the evening before yesterday’s Nato talks.

Mr Macron appeared to be commenting on how Mr Trump’s extended question-and-answer session with reporters that morning had put strains on the summit timetable.

Mr Johnson asked the French president: “Is that why you were late?”

Mr Trudeau then butted in by saying: “He was late because he takes a 40-minute press conference off the top.” Soon after, the Canadian premier appeared to speak of the reaction of White House officials to Mr Trump’s offthe-cuff remarks to the media.

“You just watch his team’s jaws drop to the floor,” Mr Trudeau said, making a jaw-dropping gesture under his chin.

Mr Johnson yesterday denied having a joke at Mr Trump’s expense and rejected suggestions he did not take the US president seriously.

Speaking to the press at the end of the summit, the Prime Minister said: “That is complete nonsense, I don’t know where that has come from.”

LABOUR under Jeremy Corbyn would seek to wreck Nato, Boris Johnson warned yesterday.

“There is a choice between those who want to strengthen Nato and those in the Labour opposition who actually want to destroy it, destroy Nato, this alliance that has kept us safe,” the Prime Minister said at the end of his press conference.

He continued: “I want to strengthen MI5, that keeps us safe.

“Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour Party want to install a home secretary who wants to disband MI5.”
