- HANGOVER SKIN FAST FIX: DEHYDRATION FAST FIX:

VERYONE wants to look their radiant best at Christmas, but the non-stop parties, late nights and festive tipples can play havoc with your complexion.

So it’s no wonder most of us have bad skin days at this time of year. They can strike without warning, and lead to everything from pimples and enlarged pores to puffy skin and flaky patches.

So what can you do to ease the irritating symptoms?

Alcohol dilates blood vessels, which is why cheeks can look flushed after drinking. It also depletes the body’s supply of vitamin A, which is crucial for cell renewal. This is often the reason why skin is so dull and dry the morning after a big night.

Rehydrate by drinking two glasses of water before you go to bed and another as soon as you wake up.Then keep sipping throughout the day. Spritz skin with a thermal water spray, such as Algenist Splash Hydrating Setting Mist, £22.40 (johnlewis. com), to replenish the skin’s moisture levels.

Then cheat instant radiance by using a primer before applying make-up. Try Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer, £26 (debenhams.com), which is infused with coconut water to soothe and smooth skin and leave it glowing.

An intense pulsed light facial can also rejuvenate skin. One 30-minute treatment will improve skin tone, banish redness and reduce pore size. From £60, available at most clinics.

Eating salty snacks and drinking too much caffeine and alcohol can leave skin severely dehydrated. When your body is depleted of vital fluids, your skin looks bloated and puffy.
