Kisses with a robber, prison officer jailed for cell romps
A PRISON officer who had a fourmonth affair with an inmate was locked up for 12 months yesterday.
Ayshea Gunn, 27, shared explicit photos and lewd footage with Khuram Razaq while he was behind bars.
The court heard that in one message, 29-year-old Razaq told her: “I can’t wait until next week. I am going to throw you on my bed.”
Photos of the pair kissing and hugging were found in Gunn’s bedroom, and jurors heard that the criminology and psychology graduate even smuggled a pair of her knickers in to prison for him.
Mold Crown Court heard Razaq was serving 12 years for conspiracy to rob at HMP Berwyn in Wrexham, where Gunn worked as a probationary officer.
Cheated
Simon Mills, prosecuting, said she started working at the prison shortly before it opened in February 2017 and had been trained in security awareness and corruption prevention.
She had also undergone “conditioning training”, which highlights the tell-tale signs of prisoners trying to exploit officers.
Mr Mills said the pair “weren’t being particularly subtle” about their inappropriate relationship.
He told how Gunn’s colleagues had noticed she spent a lot of time with Razaq and was often in his cell.
This resulted in an internal investigation and Razaq’s in-cell official phone was examined.
The prosecutor said he had added the name Keeley Mason to his phone and made regular calls to her.
They were listened to and Gunn’s voice was recognised. “By November 19, Mr Razaq had called Mason 913 times,” he said.
The same month, Gunn sent her bank details to an associate of Razaq and £1,500 was paid into her account.
The court heard that Gunn had bought clothing for Razaq and placed a bet for him. She also sent screenshots to him from a prison officers’ WhatsApp chat, which included a discussion about search tactics.
The prosecutor also said the couple shared further calls after Gunn was released under investigation.
Gunn, from Johnstown, Wrexham, admitted misconduct in public office
Keeley between July and November last year. She told investigators she had “fallen victim to compliments” and had been in love with Razaq.
After appearing before magistrates, Gunn posted pictures of herself on Instagram, apparently “revelling in the situation”.
Peter Hunter, defending, told the court that “she knows what she did was wrong” and said Gunn had become depressed after her long-term boyfriend cheated on her.
He said: “Some 17 months ago, she was in a period where she was at the bottom in her world. Someone
