High praise! Why Kate is a dignified Queen-in-waiting
THE Queen “admires” how the Duchess of Cambridge has adapted to life as a senior royal, claims an expert correspondent. Former BBC royal reporter Jennie Bond has revealed the Monarch is impressed by Kate’s “quiet dignity” and the way she has taken on the role of “Queen-inwaiting”.
Jennie, 69, said yesterday that Kate had come into her own in the past few years and had won the admiration of Her Majesty.
The veteran broadcaster said that the Duchess had qualities the British public were beginning to love. She said: “She’s doing very well, isn’t she? She’s so dignified.
“She has a quiet dignity about her which I think the public is growing to love and she works behind the scenes. I think she is coming into her own.”
Asked if she thought the Duchess was the Queen’s favourite, Jennie said: “The Queen is very fond of Sophie, actually, the Countess of Wessex. She often takes her place beside the Queen.
“But I think she admires the way that Catherine, as she’s known in royal circles, has adapted to the job of being a Queen-in-waiting.”
Kate, who organises her official duties around school and other commitments with her three children, is expected to have a busy year ahead.
She will help promote the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.
She has written to Britain’s midwives to express her admiration for their professionalism after spending two days in the maternity unit and out on home visits with staff from Kingston Hospital, in south-west London. Jennie went on to speak about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, believed to have spent the past six weeks in Canada.
She claimed that 2020 will be a “tricky year” for the couple, but said they will soon be returning to full-time work.
She added: “We’ve got to see if they can hack it – can they take the public scrutiny? The public role that is theirs. I hope that they can manage it.”
KATE, the Duchess of Cambridge, will be delighted at praise for her “quiet dignity” and reports that she has impressed the Queen. Being Queen-in-waiting must be one of the hardest jobs in Britain – especially because she is compared with one of the most popular monarchs in modern world history.
But veteran royal correspondent Jennie Bond says she is “coming into her own”.
We wholeheartedly agree. She is a radiant royal who uses her position in the spotlight to raise awareness of the importance of children’s early years development.
The best is yet to come.
