Emilia so happy at 45 thanks to a nanny at home...and therapy
ACTRESS Emilia Fox cuts a dash in a jazzy jumpsuit as she reflects on how age has made her bolder.
The star pathologist of TV drama Silent Witness star says: “Experience can make you a richer person in many ways, and it makes you feel more settled with who you are. “I didn’t expect to feel more comfortable in my 40s than I ever have been before.” The single mother copes with maintaining her career and motherhood with help from a nanny and therapy. Emilia, currently also starring as Valerie Profumo in TV’s Trial Of Christine Keeler, adds: “Maybe it’s because I’ve been around dead bodies for so long on Silent Witness, but I see [ageing] as a privilege.” She fears she may not give enough time to her nine-yearold daughter Rose, by her ex-partner, peace campaigner and actor Jeremy Gilley, 51.
Emilia, daughter of film star Edward Fox and TV and theatre actress Joanna David, tells Good Housekeeping: “Inevitably I ask myself, do I spread myself too thinly?
“But there isn’t any option, so I just have to get on with it.
“Whether you’re parenting together or parenting separately, it’s very tough, isn’t it?
“Rose sees her dad, but I rely on lot on the people closest to me.
“I have amazing help from my nanny, Claire and I’m very fortunate that my parents live nearby – they’re very good and adoring grandparents.”
The actress admits weekly therapy is crucial to her happiness too.
She says: “I thrive on it. I feel like it’s a part of who I am now. Very often, my therapist and I don’t talk about anything too deep.
“But it’s just good to have someone else’s perspective, who will give you tools to be able to cope with whatever life throws at you.”
