She’s back! Strictly’s Shirl gives us a twirl

- By Tom Bryant and Will Twigger

STRICTLY’S Shirley Ballas has wowed audiences on her return to the dancefloor, declaring: “I’m back to my best.”

The gutsy star – back after her recent breast operation – received a standing ovation for a remarkable solo dance at the opening night of the Strictly Live Tour.

Her knock-out Birmingham performance came just weeks after four hours of surgery to have her breast implants removed.

The head judge, 59, previously described being in agony after the procedure in November.

Against the advice of doctors, she returned to the Strictly judging panel days later.

Talking after her quick-step return to the stage, she said: “It really is wonderful to be dancing again after my operation.

Excited

“It has taken a lot of recovery, but I feel back to my best and excited to get out on that dancefloor.”

Shirley, who has spoken openly about her family’s history with breast cancer, made the decision to have surgery in order to reduce her own risk of developing the disease.

Implants can block the early signs of it being detected.

And the star has urged women: “Don’t think you need to have these procedures to make you look more attractive. If someone is making you feel bad, talk to someone. Don’t do what I did.”

The Strictly Live Tour saw her take to the stage with fellow judges Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli. Stars included Mike Bushell and Katya Jones along with 2019 winner Kelvin Fletcher.
