We miss grandad, but his care home is 100 miles away
TWO children who have not seen their dementia-stricken granddad for more than a year have written to Boris Johnson begging him to help.
Heartbroken Rylee Moynihan and his cousin Taylor Smith appealed to the Prime Minister to help solve a problem typical of the growing crisis in social care.
Their grandfather Paul Moynihan was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at just 54 and is in a care home 100 miles from his grandchildren.
The distance, coupled with childcare commitments, mean his family rarely sees him.
The last time Rylee, 10, and Taylor, six, from Middlesbrough, spent time with their grandfather was in 2018. Taylor’s brother Marley, two, has only seen Paul twice.
Rylee’s letter to the PM said: “It makes me very sad and upset because I never get to see him anymore.
“I love him and miss him so much and it makes me cry all the time. It’s not fair because I really want to see him again. Please can you help me and my family.”
Taylor wrote: “I am writing to you to say how much I miss him because he is very sick and has to live in a care home far away. Please can you help my family.”
