Ramsay’s son swaps tureens for Marines
TV chef Gordon Ramsay’s eldest son Jack has exchanged his privileged lifestyle to win the coveted green beret of a Royal Marine.
He has been previously pictured lying on a gondola in Venice with Brooklyn Beckham, 20, and in stunning locations across the globe.
And his dad gave him a Rolex watch worth £10,000 for his 18th birthday.
But 20-year-old Jack hopes this autumn to be a serviceman earning a salary of £18,000-a-year.
He signed up as a marine rather than an officer and started the challenging 32-week basic training late last year. He will push himself to the limit alongside 16-year-olds without his public-school education.
A source at the Royal Marines’ Commando Training Centre at Lympstone, Devon, said Jack has made a great start and was popular with other recruits.
The source said: “First and foremost, he is just another marine recruit to us, a ‘bod’. There’s no nepotism here and no favouritism.
“He’s getting his head down and delivering the goods so far.
“He seems fit and is well liked. Not surprisingly, there’s a lot of goodnatured banter when Jack and his mates sit down to eat and when they’re on a field exercise about who should prepare the rations.”
Jack, who studied at Dulwich College and then Exeter University, has a passion for rugby.
His mother Tana last year gave birth to his fifth sibling, Oscar.
Jack now faces assault courses, endurance marches and gym sessions to be part of the Royal Navy’s elite amphibious force.
He has said: “I have grown up in a bubble. I’ve never had to fight or do anything for myself. I don’t know what I’m like without everything I’ve got.”
