ACTRESS Shannen Doherty has stage 4 cancer three years after she went into remission in her battle with breast cancer.

The star of Beverley Hills 90210 has been private about her ordeal for a year because she wanted to prove she was able to work.

“I’m stage 4,” she told Good Morning America yesterday. “So my cancer came back, and that’s why I’m here. I don’t think that I’ve processed it.

“It’s a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways. I definitely have days where I say, ‘Why me?’ And then I go, ‘Well, why not me? Who else besides me deserves this?’ None of us do.”

The actress, 48, only told a small group of people, including her former co-star Brian Austin Green.

Fighting back tears, she said: “I had moments of great anxiety where I thought, ‘I can’t really do this’. Brian was the one person who of that group of people that knew, that I told, like, pretty quickly and said, ‘Here, this is what I’m dealing with’.

“So prior to shooting he would always call me and say, ‘Listen, you know, whatever happens, I have your back.’

“He would look at me and be like, ‘We got this, kiddo’… so Brian helped me through a lot.”

Shannen also played witch sister Prue Halliwell in the popular show Charmed. She has previously spoken openly throughout her cancer battle, sharing pictures and statements.

She has talked on social media about undergoing treatment.

In March she shared a video clip of herself “laughing thru the tears” as she shaved her head for the first time, following a bout of chemotherapy.

She regularly pays tribute to her husband Kurt Iswarienko for his support following their marriage in 2011.
