Little Jimmy’s on the mend after his stroke says Osmond brother

- By Mark Jefferies and Alex Belfield ● Merrill is on tour from March until October and there are more details and dates at merrillosmond.com

SINGER Jimmy Osmond is recovering from the effects of a stroke and it’s all thanks to painting and jogging, according to his brother.

Merrill Osmond has told how the star has improved rapidly after being taken seriously ill.

Jimmy, 56, suffered a stroke in December 2018 during a pantomime performance of Peter Pan in Birmingham, where he was playing Captain Hook. It was feared he may not perform again.

Merrill, 66, said: “You know it’s great. I’ve seen him two times now and Jimmy had his issues there. You know what, he’s getting better every day.

Cool

“What’s cool is he’s never had this amount of time before with his family, they’re going places and Jimmy runs like crazy now, jogs everywhere and what he’s doing now is painting.

“We all get our ups and downs, he had a down but he’s coming back up.”

Asked what plans Jimmy had next, Merrill said he “absolutely” hoped they would sing together again and added: “Jimmy has been the entrepreneur throughout the years. He’s still got a lot of things going that I know of.

“I don’t know exactly what his agenda is in the future but I know that he’s getting better every day.”

Jimmy and Merrill performed together as part of The Osmonds in their peak in the Seventies alongside other brothers Alan, Wayne, Jay and Donny.

Merrill is currently preparing to hit the road again himself for tour dates in the UK in March.

He added: “This is our second home, we’ve been here forever and people love the Osmonds songs. I love singing them and I’ll keep doing it until I get it right!

“I don’t think I’ve had more fun than I’m having right now. I enjoy the music and I love to hear the fans singing along. They still scream like they did in the 70s.

“The brothers have retired and gone their way so I’m the last man standing other than Donny and Marie. It doesn’t worry me because I’ve got a great band and I’m still in love with the songs.

“I don’t know why I’ve been so blessed. My energy levels are good and I’m just ready to rock and roll – I’m just getting started.”
