THE Streatham terror attack illustrate­s a serious and recurring problem created and perpetuate­d by the nanny state.

Statistics regularly published and updated show consistent­ly that not just terrorists, but other murderers also, frequently reoffend shortly after release from prison.

Older statistics show that criminals who were hanged for murder never reoffended.

It is high time the Government considered the reintroduc­tion of this effective penalty for murder and terrorism.
