Two confusing! Nursery with 9 sets of twins

- By Hannah Phillips

NURSERY staff have been left seeing double after a record-breaking nine sets of twins turned up to enrol. The pre-school facility was already surprised to learn that three sets were attending – but they were completely shocked when six more pairs arrived. Each set of twins at Stockport Village Nursery in Greater Manchester has been assigned to a different member of staff.

But, luckily, only one set is identical so there is no need for name tags – despite parents’ love of dressing their youngsters in matching outfits. Nursery manager Lyndsey Cross, 36, said: “We must be the only nursery in the UK to have this many twins. I suppose there must be something in the water around here.” She added that it is a main topic of conversation in the playground.

Lyndsey explained: “Parents can’t believe it, they always mention it in the mornings.”

Nursery worker Steph Doxsey, who is also mother to the youngest set of twins five-month-old Lottie and Gracie, said she could not believe it when the number of twins kept rising.

The 31-year-old added: “It’s crazy. I’ve never heard of so many twins at a nursery.

“When they are together they just sit looking around at each other. It is like they’re thinking, ‘Oh, you’ve got a twin, too’.”

THE arrival of nine sets of twins means Stockport Village Nursery will be abuzz with gleeful mischief in the months to come. Manager Lyndsey Cross quipped: “There must be something in the water around here.”

Staff will sometimes wonder if they are seeing double but the scene is set for joyous fun and the foundation of friendships to last a lifetime.
