A TEENAGE partygoer and a new father were stabbed to death in separate horrors during a 24-hour knife crime spree which left two others seriously injured.

Ramani Morgan, 16, died after being found in the street with multiple stab wounds following a row at a house party in Coventry.

Scotland Yard said a 24-year-old father was knifed to death just 15 minutes after leaving his girlfriend and newborn child to work a nightshift in Hendon, north London.

In Liverpool, a 19-year-old male was critical but stable after being wounded in an early hours fracas.

In Sheffield, meanwhile, another 19-year-old was in a serious condition after a city centre attack.

The weekend’s violence comes amid record increases in the number of knife offences.

Heartbreaking

West Midlands Police said Ramani, of Erdington, Birmingham, was killed in the street after a row broke out at the party on Saturday night.

He was pronounced dead in hospital despite receiving medical treatment from police, paramedics and hospital staff.

Detectives were questioning two 17-year-old youths about the attack in Coventry’s Stoke district at about 10.30pm. Yesterday, forensic officers delved into manholes as they searched for evidence near the scene.

Chief Superintendent Mike O’Hara, police commander for Coventry, said the well-attended house party got out of hand.

He said: “We have then had an altercation between some young people at the party that has spilled out on to the street. As a direct result a young man called Ramani Morgan, who is 16, was stabbed several times.”

Detective Inspector Michelle Allen, of the homicide team, added: “This is simply tragic. My thoughts remain with the young man’s family and friends at this heartbreaking time.”

She appealed for witnesses and drivers who may have dash-cam footage to come forward.

The unnamed London victim, from the north-west district of Edgware, was found after police heard reports of a car crashing into another vehicle shortly after 9pm on Saturday. Officers found him with stab injuries, slumped inside a silver VW Polo, and believe he was attacked minutes earlier in a nearby car park.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Partridge said: “The victim was arriving at the car park to travel to work for a night shift. He had just left his girlfriend and newborn baby at home in Edgware 15 minutes earlier.”

DCI Partridge said no one has been arrested, but added: “It is likely that a number of witnesses in the Belle Vue Estate may have witnessed the attack.

“I am appealing for anyone who saw the incident, or who knows anything about what happened, to make contact with my officers, all calls will be treated in the strictest confidence.”

Merseyside Police appealed for anyone with mobile phone camera footage to come forward after the fracas in Liverpool city centre’s

Church Street. The victim was stabbed in the chest after a large group of men were seen fighting at about 4am yesterday. A second 19-year-old man was treated in hospital for a cut to the face.

A 20-year-old man from the Kirkdale district is being questioned on suspicion of assault, possession of a bladed article and possession with intent to supply the drug MDMA.

Detective Inspector Sabi Kaur said a small knife was recovered from the scene of the crime.

South Yorkshire Police said a 23-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the 4am attack in Sheffield.

THE family of a man who died after being attacked with an axe told yesterday how he was “full of kindness”.

A 31-year-old man arrested on suspicion of killing Ryan Lowry, 36, had been detained under the Mental Health Act, police said.

Mr Lowry, of Marple, Stockport, was chased down and attacked in Moss Lane in Partington soon before midnight on Thursday, Greater Manchester Police said.

His family said: “It’s hard to believe how something like this can happen to someone like Ryan, who did not have a bad bone in his body.

“Full of kindness, strong principles and humour, he will be missed by so many.

Motor racing fan Ryan founded the CALM All Porsche Trophy series, raising money for mental health. His family have asked wellwishers to donate to the charity.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin said: “The arrested man and Ryan were known to one another, and police are working hard to understand the reason for this horrific attack.”
