Kate said: “The children have got such stamina, I don’t know how.

“Honestly, you get to the end of the day and you write down the list of all the things that you’ve done in that day. So you pitch a tent, take the tent down again, cook, bake. You get to the end of the day, they have had a lovely time.

“But it is amazing how much you can cram into one day, that’s for sure.”

Sandringha­m is not the only royal residence helping out in the national emergency.

At Balmoral, the Queen’s 53,000-acre estate in the Highlands, the housekeepi­ng team has been busy making face masks and laundry bags for the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Royal staff and other residents at Windsor Castle have also been making scrubs, washbags, headbands and scrub hats for NHS staff at various hospitals, including nearby Frimley Park Hospital in Camberley, Surrey.

OUR Royal Family has been showing throughout this crisis why they are such a tremendous asset for our country. The Queen’s addresses to the nation have been particular­ly inspiratio­nal and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been connecting with people all around the country boosting morale.

But step forward a star of the next generation of royals – Princess Charlotte. The Cambridges’ daughter spent her fifth birthday delivering food parcels for the elderly. Like her mother, the Princess is full of charm and an inspiratio­n to us all.
